Zavier Simpson is again having himself another quality year in the NBA G-League this season. Simpson is in his fourth year of G-League play and first with the Motor City Cruise.
Simpson was signed by the Detroit Pistons before the season and was assigned to their G-League affiliate which also plays in Detroit. So far this season Simpson is averaging the most minutes per game and points per game he has in his entire professional career. He is also averaging 8.8 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Simpson has had six double-doubles in the regular season and has scored in double figures in every game. He is currently number one in the G-League in total assists and 7th in the G-League in assists per game. Simpson is also 10th in the G-League in total points. Simpson is number one on the team in points per game, field goals made per game, assists per game and steals per game.
Simpson has appeared in four NBA games in his career. All coming in 2022 with the Oklahoma City Thunder. With his high level of play it is a wait and see if he makes another appearance in the association. The Pistons are the worst team in the league and are in need of anything to provide a spark. Giving a chance to a proven passer like Zavier Simpson may be the move needed just to get to 10 wins on the season. What is there to lose?
