Trevor Harris has been a champion and he has been an all star, now he is a Saskatchewan Roughrider. Harris is joining his 5th team since entering the league in 2012. Last year Harris led the underdog Montreal Alouettes to the conference finals.
The Waldo native and Marion Pleasant graduate has been a league mainstay under center. Harris’ veteran presence will be needed after the Roughriders went 6-12 last season and missed out on the playoffs. To top it off, Saskatchewan lost the final 7 games of the season after starting 6-5.
Trevor Harris signing with the Roughriders brings immediate star power to offense. Harris has never had a losing record worse than 8-10 as a starting quarterback. He even led the Redblacks to a Grey Cup in 2016 after a regular season record of 8-9-1.
The Roughriders will be leaning on Harris to lead them to their fifth Grey Cup in franchise history and first since 2013. Harris won the Grey Cup in 2012 with Toronto and 2016 with Ottawa. Saskatchewan having a new offensive coordinator and bolstered offensive line should help the Roughriders make a playoff push in the tough western division.
You can see Trevor Harris and the Roughriders kickoff their season Sunday, June 11th at 7:00pm as they take on the Edmonton Elks.
