Bowling Green State football has fallen on hard times in recent years. This year’s lone FBS win at least came in an upset against Georgia Tech. The Falcons are currently 2-4 at the halfway point of the season. The team hasn’t had many bright spots, but one of them is undoubtably Terion Stewart.
Terion Stewart was a standout running back at Sandusky High School and a solid three sport athlete. Despite his athletic prowess, Bowling Green State was the only school to offer a scholarship. Stewart jumped at the opportunity and it has paid dividends ever sense.
Terion came into college football during the shortened Covid season. Then during his first full season in 2021 he became one of the Falcons’ featured backs. Stewart took the 2022 season to focus on off-the-field situations and has returned now in 2023 as the the team’s star player.
Stewart had a big game in Week 2 with two touchdowns in a win over Eastern Illinois. In Week 4 against Ohio Stewart ran for over 100 yards and scored the team’s only touchdown. In BGSU’s upset win over Georgia Tech, Stewart ran for 138 yards and a score.
Stewart currently leads the Falcons in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He also more carries than any other back. Stewart is also 4th in the Mid-American Conference in both rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and average yards per game.
Stewart and the Falcons have two more weekend games before MAC-tion starts on the first day of November. Look for Stewart to bare the brunt of the load as the second half of the season starts.
