Toledo native and Whitmer graduate Storm Norton has re-signed with the Atlanta Falcons for the upcoming NFL season. This will be Norton’s second year with the team.
Last season was Norton’s first in Atlanta. He started three games and appeared in 31% of the Falcons’ offensive snaps. Norton is also a member of the special teams unit. Norton holds a valuable roll as an experienced back-up for Atlanta, who return all of their starting lineman for next season.
Before making his way to Atlanta, Storm Norton came out of the University of Toledo as an undrafted free agent and spent 2017-2019 on different practice squads and making one NFL appearance with the Minnesota Vikings. Norton then played for the Los Angeles Wildcats in the XFL in 2020 where he made a name for himself as one of the best linemen in the league. Norton then played three seasons for the Chargers, including one as a starter in 2021. He then signed with the New Orleans practice squad in 2023 before being picked up by Atlanta in September.
Norton is one of those players that will play a key role in mainting depth for the Atlanta offense. He can play tackle on either side of center and stepped up for an injured Kaleb McGary a year ago.
Other Northwest Ohio athletes to play for the Atlanta Falcons are Tim Anderson of Clyde (2007) and William White of Lima Senior (1997-98).
