Ross Adolph is looking to make a big leap in his fifth year of professional baseball. The Findlay native and Van Buren graduate has had a steady and constant rise in his time in the minors and this invite to Spring Training is another step in the right direction.
Ross Adolph had a brief call up last year in Spring Training for just three games at the end of March, however, this season Adolph has been in the line-up since day one. The outfielder had two at bats with a single and a strikeout in the opening game against his former organization the New York Mets.
The Astros are currently loaded with a lot of young prospects but Adolph shows promise to continue making his mark on the organization. For the last two seasons Adolph has played for the Double-A Corpus Chrisit Hooks. However, he had to take off significant time last year due to an injury. In his 59 games with the team he had 29 RBIs and an .828 OPS while only recording two fielding errors on the year.
It is also a possibility that Adolph’s call up to Spring Training my also yield possible suitors on the trade market. High level exposure against top talent this time of year gives scouts a lot of opportunities to target talent they may need to trade for during the season.
Time will tell what the future has in store for Ross Adolph, but for the time being, everyone can watch him shine in Spring Training.
