Huron Boys and Coldwater Girls win team titles
The Huron boys won their second consecutive track state title, this year in Division III. They won both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays, while junior Joe Schaeffer took 2nd in the 200m. Distance runner Sage Edgerly-Bork took 8th in the 1600m and stormed past a McDonald runner to take 7th in 3200m. By finishing in front of the McDonald runner, Bork secured the Tigers a tie for the state title with McDonald. This is Huron’s third track team state title.
The Coldwater girls won their fourth ever state team title thanks to super senior Izzy Zahn. Zahn won the long jump, 200m, 400m and anchored the winning 4x400m relay. Zahn set new state records in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay set a state record as well. Ava Schmitmeyer tied for 5th in the pole vault for the Cavaliers while freshman Chloe Bertke took 5th in the 100m. Coldwater’s 4x100m relay also took 5th. Sophomore Audrey Alig took 2nd in the 800m to round out the scoring for Coldwater.
The Sprint Queens
Izzy Zahn of Colwater and Nyla King of Toledo Central Catholic showed way they were the best of the best. At the Division III meet, Zahn broke her own state records in 200m and 400m with times of 23.04 and 52.89. She also anchored the 4x400m relay to a state record time of 3:53.94 while also winning the long jump. King pulled of the sprint triple crown of winning the 100m, 200m and 400m. She set a state record time in the 200m with 23.76 showing and missed the 100m record by only .03 with a time of 11.60.
State Champs
Seneca East boys won the 4x800m relay in Division III, the first ever N10 school to do so.
Minster girls won the 4x800m relay in Division III, their 8th 4x800m title in program history.
Drew Boggs won the high jump in Division III for Delphos St. John’s, the first boy to win a field event in their schools history.
Hunter Spangler won the shot put in Division III for Liberty Center, the third Henry County boy to do so.
Izzy Zahn won the long jump in Division III for Coldwater, she is second girl in MAC history to win long jump twice. Her victory in the 400m makes her just the third girl in Auglaize County history to win the event. Her 200m victory makes her one of just two girls in NWO history to have at least three 200m titles.
Anna Roessner won the 100m in Division III for Fort Recovery in a new state record time of 11.75, she is the first girl from Mercer County or the MAC to win a 100m title.
Huron boys won the 4x200m and 4x100m relays in Division III, they are the only school to win each event twice in Erie County and SBC history.
Coldwater girls won the 4x400m relay in Division III, it is their fourth time winning that event in school history.
Marion Local boys won the 4x400m relay in Division III, they are the first Mercer County boys team to win the event.
Michaela Stork won the discus in Division II for Port Clinton, she is the first individual state girls champ for Port Clinton track and field.
Victor Singleton won the long jump in Division II for Toledo Central Catholic, he is the second Lucas County boy to win the event twice.
Nyla King won the 100m, 200m and 400m in Division II for Toledo Central Catholic, she is the only Lucas County girl to win all three in one meet.
Owen Scott won the 1600m in Division II for Van Wert, the first WBL boy to win the event.
Marek Donaldson won the 800m in Division II for Bluffton, the first Allen County boy to win the title.
