Players from across Northwest Ohio will be dotting NFL fields this fall as Week 1 of the NFL season gets underway. Nine players are currently under contract with NFL teams that have graduated from area schools. It’s quite possible Northwest Ohio will see its first Super Bowl champion since 2010 with Charles Woodson and the Packers. So here is a look at all nine of the locals to grace the field this season.
The biggest star of the bunch is by far Micah Hyde. The Fostoria native was named as one of the top players in the league this year. Hyde has been dominating opposing offenses for the Bills as they are a leading Super Bowl contender. Hyde was named second team All-Pro last year and helped the Bills to a division title. Look for Hyde to be on highlight reels on season long.
Whitmer has three grads currently suiting up in Chris Wormley, Storm Norton and Phil Hoskins. Wormley will be in his third year as a Steeler where he started as defensive end last year. Expect him to lead the defensive line all year long. Storm Norton will be in his third year as a Charger after a stint in the XFL. Last year Norton was a starting left tackle in LA but will play on more of a rotational basis this year. The third Whitmer Panther actually plays for the Carolina Panthers in Phil Hoskins. Hoskins played sparringly has a rookie last year but is projected to see an increased roll on the defensive line this year.

Bre Hampton-Bey (Toledo/Toledo Notre Dame) has signed with the Sheffield Hatters of the Women’s British Basketball League.
Art Warren (Napoleon) sent on assignment to Triple-A Louisville by the Reds.

On September 4th Zach Willeman (Napoleon) gave up no hits and had three strikeouts for the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers.
On September 4th Jase Bowen (Northwood/Toledo Central Catholic) went 3-for-4 including a home run for the Single-A+ Greensboro Grasshoppers.
On September 7th Chris Bassitt (Curtice/Genoa) threw 10 strikeouts while only giving up 1 earned run in 7 innings for the Mets.
On September 7th Adam Wolf (Milan/Edison) threw five strikeouts across three innings while giving up only two hits for the Double-A Erie SeaWolves.
On September 8th Deylen Miley (Bryan) pitched four and two-thirds innings with nine strikeouts and only giving up two hits for the Single-A Fayetteville Woodpeckers.
On September 10th Dallas Gant (Toledo/Toledo Central Catholic) had nine tackles for Toledo in a win over UMass.
On September 10th Thomas Cluckey (Oregon/Clay) was perfect from the tee going 7/7 on extra points and 2/2 on field goals for Toledo.
On September 10th Tyler Perkins (Norwalk/St. Paul) had two punts travel over 50 yards to help Iowa State defeat Iowa.
