On Monday night Trevor Bassitt of Bluffton, Ohio won his first ever outdoor world championship medal. Bassitt earned the bronze in the 400 meter hurdles by eclipsing Wilfred Happio of France by just .02 seconds. Bassitt’s finishing time of 47.39 improved on his previous personal best of 47.47 which he ran at the USA Championships in June. Bassitt’s time of 47.39 now makes him the 18th fastest 400 meter hurdler in world history and the 10th fastest in American history. Bassitt is the only Northwest Ohio athlete to ever medal at the outdoor world championships.
