Nigel Hayes-Davis is capping off one of his best years in professional basketball. Playing for Fenerbahçe in Turkey, Hayes-Davis helped lead the team to a playoff appearance in the EuroLeague and guranteed the team a top three finish in the Turkish Super League.
Hayes-Davis signed with Fenerbahçe this past offseason after a year on a stout Barcelona squad that finished EuroLeague runners-up. This season, Hayes-Davis has been known for his big dunks and sharpshooting prowess. He was named MVP of week 23 in the EuroLeague, one of his highest honors since starting his professional career in 2017.
In EuroLeague competition, Hayes-Davis is first on his team in steals per games and fifth in the league. He is also third on the team in points and twenty-fourth in the league. Meanwhile, in Super League competition, Hayes-Davis has the team in championship contention. With one game left to play in the regular season, Fenerbahçe is sitting in third place in the standings but could shoot all the way up to first if they win and the tiebreakers fall their way. They will be one of the top seeds heading into the playoffs.
The Toledo native and Whitmer graduate signed a contract extenstion with Fenerbahçe that could keep him with the club for up to three seasons. That would be his longest stint at a pro club to date. After a standout collegiate career at Wisconsin, had a short G-League stint where he made the All-Rookie team and had a few call ups to the NBA. He then played on season at Galatasaray in Turkey before a two year stint with Žalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania where he helped the team the back-to-back league titles and cup trophies. He then signed with Barcelona for one season before moving to Fenerbahçe.
