The first RPI (Ratings Performance Index) was released this week for high school basketball in Ohio. The RPI will be used to rank teams for the postseason tournament, eliminating the coaches vote.
Findlay is by far the highest ranked team in Northwest Ohio. They are undefeated and have had one of the hardest schedules in the area. Following right behind them is Whitmer, who is in the same conference. Findlay one the first matchup going away by over twenty points. They meet up again on February 9th.
Sandusky is one of the smallest schools in Division 1 this season but they are currently ranked fourth in Northwest Ohio. They have one loss on the season, coming to Whitmer.
Willard and Napoleon are the top teams in Division two. Both schools will have to go through Lexington to make it out of Northwest Ohio.
The fifth highest ranked team in Northwest Ohio is Ottawa-Glandorf down in division three. They only have one loss on the year and have been state runners-up the past two seasons. The sixth highest ranked team is also in division three, Margaretta has only one loss on the year which came in the season opener to Bellevue.
Division four has the third highest ranked team in Maumee Valley Country Day. The Hawks have only one loss on the season and have played most of their schedule against teams from outside of Northwest Ohio and even the state. Lima Central Catholic is seventh ranked in the NWO, their biggest win coming over Ottawa-Glandorf.
