Local athletes compete for indoor track & field collegiate conference championships

Ayden Bath (Vermilion) took first place in the Heptathlon at the MAC Championships for Kent State with 5,441 points, he also took 2nd in the high jump and 4th in the 60m hurdles. In the 400m at the MAC Championships, Jimmy Harkelroad (Huron) took 2nd in a time of 48.96 and also helped Akron to a win in the 4x400m. In the 800m, Ronnie Brandal (Huron) took 2nd in a time of 1:53.56 for Eastern Michigan. In the pole vault, Jacob Niedzwiecki (Whitmer) took 4th for Eastern Michigan. At the Big Ten Championships, Sean Kaminski (Huron) high jumped to a personal best of 6’07 to place 13th for Ohio State.
In the weight throw at the MAC Championships Ella Rigel (Leipsic) placed third for Miami OH and Briana Wright (Lima Senior) placed 5th for Kent State. Representing Ohio State at the Big Ten Championships, AnneMarie Moses (Fremont Ross) placed 20th in the pole vault.
At the GMAC championships, Micah Gremling (Findlay) took 2nd in the 60m dash in a time of 6.72 for Walsh. In the 200m Josh Verhoff (Kalida) took 1st in a time of 21.07. In the mile, Jordan Foster (Hopewell-Loudon) went 4:07.13 to finish 2nd for Findlay, he also took 4th in the 3000m. Winning the 3000m was Noah Fisher (Def. Ayersville) for Findlay in a time of 8:19.68. Fisher also won the 5k in a time of 14:20.51. In the pole vault, Findlay had 4 local athletes finish in the top 8, Alex Mutchler (Colonel Crawford) was 3rd, Nate Buschur (Marion Local) was 5th, Conner Douglass (Elida) was 6th and Jacob Michael (Elida) was 7th. In the triple jump Eliot Cummings (Ottawa Hills) took 1st with a leap of 48’08 for Findlay, Caden Morris (Marion Harding) took 6th for Ashland.
At the GMAC championships in the shot put, Trista Fintel (Patrick Henry) won with a throw of 48’09 for Findlay. In 3rd place was Molly Winner (Marion Local) for Ashland. Fintel also finished 2nd in the weight throw.

Jake Diebler (Fostoria/Upper Sandusky) named interim head men’s basketball coach at Ohio State.

On February 24th Sammi Mikonowicz (Rossford) had 24 points in a Toledo win over Ball State.
On February 24th Amanda Cahill (Clyde) had 24 points in a Grengewald win over T71.
On February 24th Natasha Howard (Toledo/Waite) had 20 points and 17 rebounds in a Fenerbahce win over Antalya.
On February 24th Da’Sean Nelson (Toledo/Rogers) had 16 points in a DePaul loss to Georgetown.
