Most in Northwest Ohio probably have not heard of Evan Lee. Little do people know he was of only a half dozen locals to play professional soccer. The Toledo St. John’s graduate is currently playing for Greenville Triumph SC in South Carolina who are in the United Soccer League: League One.
Lee has been with Greenville in every year of their existence, which started in 2019. Lee has been a focal point of the team’s defense as he plays the center-back position. One of the most impressive feats of Lee’s time with Greenville is that they have made the championship game every year since the team’s inception. Lee has helped the team to a runners-up finish in 2019 and 2021 and a title in 2020. This season Lee has been a stalwart defender who has helped Greenville to another deep playoff run. The Triumph are playing their semi-final match this Saturday against South Georgia Tormenta FC on ESPN+.
Lee started his pro career after a stellar career at Ohio Wesleyan. In 2016, Lee played 13 games for FC Cincinnati before playing for the Richmond Kickers from 2017-2018. Lee has since been with the Greenville Triumph.
