Coldwater Wins First Volleyball State Title

The Coldwater Cavaliers won their first ever volleyball state championship this weekend. In the first year of the new seven division format, Coldwater defeated Marion Pleasant in three straight sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-12) to win the first ever Division VI championship.
Coldwater was ranked No. 1 in Division VI entering the tournament. This eclipses the Cavaliers’ previous best volleyball seasons of finishing runners-up in both 1994 and 2022.
This is Coldwater’s 11th girls team state title across all sports, and first to take place in the fall season. This is the Midwest Athletic Conference’s 21st volleyball state champion and their fourth year in a row having a member school hoist the trophy. It is also the 16th state volleybal title in Mercer County history, and first since 2013.
Dallas Gant signs with Eagles Practice Squad
Toledo St. John’s grad Dallas Gant has been signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad. Gant is rookie who spent time on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad before being released on October 29th.

Terion Stewart (Sandusky) - Stewart had 20 carriers for 170 yards in a BGSU win over Central Michigan.
Levi Gazarek (North Balitmore) - Gazarek had one reception for a touchdown in a BGSU win over Central Michigan.
Tyler Perkins (Norwalk St. Paul) - Perkins had 4 punts for 193 yards in an Iowa State loss to Kansas.

Jamiya Neal (Toledo Rogers) - Neal had 6 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists in a Creighton win over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Tahj Staveskie (Sandusky) - Staveskie had 8 points in a Cleveland State loss to Kansas State.
Sean Craig (Sylvania Northview) - Craig had 8 points and 10 rebounds in an IUI loss to Xavier.
Jamir Simpson (Lima Senior) - Simpson had 16 points in a Southern Utah win over FIU.
Lauren Gerken (Liberty-Benton) - Gerken had 14 points and 8 rebounds in a BGSU win over Southern Miss.
Sammi Mikonowicz (Rossford) - Mikonowicz had 15 points and 6 rebounds in a Toledo win over Marshall.
Kendall Carruthers (Springfield) - Carruthers had 8 points in a Toledo win over Marshall.
Grace VanSlooten (Toledo Notre Dame) - VanSlooten had 15 points and 9 rebounds in a Michigan State win over Oakland. Then had 19 points and 5 rebounds in a win over Yale.
Brooklyn Thrash (Elmwood) - Thrash had 15 points and 5 rebounds in an Eastern Michigan win over Alabama A&M.
Riley Rismiller (Coldwater) - Rismiller had 20 points in a Kent State loss to James Madison.
Kacee Baumhower (Sylvania Northview) - Baumhower had 26 points and 7 rebounds in a Milwaukee overtime loss to St. Thomas. She then had 24 points and 5 rebounds in a Milwaukee overtime loss to Butler.
Ivy Wolf (Minster) - Wolf had 10 points and 6 rebounds in a Dayton win over Southeast Missouri. She then had 22 points in a win over Delaware State.
