After being pounced by the Chicago Sky in the first round, Natasha Howard and the New York Liberty’s 2022 season has come to an end. Howard made her ninth WNBA season one of her best as she was named to the WNBA All-Star team for the second time in her career. Howard was one of the leading forces propelling the Liberty to the WNBA playoffs this season. She had ten double-doubles on the season and led the team in rebounding. This season is only second to her 2019 campaign where she was also named an All-Star as well as Defensive Player of the Year.
The Toledo Waite product has now completed her second season with the Liberty after being traded from the Seattle Storm where she was a part of two championship teams. Prior to that she helped the Minnesota Lynx to a title in 2017 after originally being drafted by the Indiana Fever in 2014.
This season has cemented Natasha Howard as the greatest female basketball player in Northwest Ohio history. It is hard to judge how far some female players would have made it before a bonafide professional league came into play, but no athlete in NWO history has ever played as long in the WNBA as Howard. In fact, Howard is the only NWO athlete to play more than one season in the WNBA.
