Zia Cooke is starting to see increased playing time with the Los Angeles Sparks. The Sparks have struggled to a 4-13 record so far this season and have three players on their injured list. Cooke, who is averaging 8.7 minutes per game this season, got 17 minutes of playing time in each of the Sparks’ last two games against the Liberty.
On June 20th, Zia Cooke had 13 points in her 17 minutes of play. Two days later on June 22nd she tied her career high of 14 points against New York.
The Sparks are in the midst of a rebuild and star rookie Cameron Brink is out for the season. Logically, it makes most sense that young players like Cooke should receive more playing time to help with development.
Cooke was a Mcdonald’s All-American at Toledo Rogers high school before earning multiple accolades at South Carolina.
The Sparks play again on June 28th against the Phoenix Mercury.
